In this article, we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the spring season. So keep reading.
This spring has been cooler than usual but that does not mean it is all bad as this season comes with many advantages.
Spring can be the best of times and the worst of times, it all depends on how you look at it.
1. Spring Season
The reason we have different seasons is that the Earth’s axis is slightly tilted in relation to its orbit around the Sun. However, although we commonly divide the year into four seasons, the dates when the seasons begin and end vary. The two common definitions are the astronomical definition and the meteorological definition.
Under the astronomical definition, spring began on the spring equinox on March 20th. It will end on June 21st this year as summer begins on the summer solstice. Dates vary because the timings of the equinoxes and solstices change each year.
Under the meteorological definition, the seasons begin on the first day of the month that includes the equinoxes and solstices. So, spring is on from March 1st to May 31st, in the Northern Hemisphere.
2. Pros And Cons Of Spring
Like everything in life, spring has its pros and cons. On a pretty note, spring brings out the best in the flowers. However, with the trees growing in earnest, the pollen triggers a lot of allergies which is why many people dread the season altogether.
Spring also means warm days are not too far off even though this year, we’re in for cooler than usual temperatures. At least the days are longer and we get to enjoy more daylight. These two combined tend to lower our PECO utility bill as we use less energy in our homes. We also get to spend more time outdoors which does wonders for both our physical and mental health. For sports fans, spring also marks the start of the baseball season.
On the other hand, weather can get extreme with thunderstorms and can cause damage to our property. Storms or not, our yards need to be cleaned as well as our homes as ‘spring cleaning’ was coined as a special term for good reason.
3. Spring Activities For The Family
The whole idea of loving spring comes from a variety of activities you get to enjoy after waking up from your winter’s sleep.
Enjoying The Outdoors
You can plant your garden or just sit on a bench and enjoy looking at cherry blossoms. There’s a quote that says that “The perfect blossom is a rare thing. You could spend your entire life looking for one, and it would not be a wasted life.” We only have a chance to see this beauty in spring. If meditation is not your kind of thing, playing golf is considered by many as a form of meditation. You can finally enjoy your coffee at an outdoor coffee and observe nature around you coming to life. Your kids can draw pictures on the sidewalk with chalk while you enjoy that sunny cup of coffee. If your kids need more activity, you can hike.
Activities For Kids
Kids can finally fly a kite or blow bubbles. If you are a kid at heart, you can skip stones across a pond- that never stops being fun. You can visit the zoo and melt by seeing (and cuddling) baby animals. Petting a bunny will make your heart dance with joy.
It’s time for asparagus, artichokes, spinach, and sugar snap peas! This is the time when your farmer’s market is as abundant as it gets!
It would be such a shame to miss spring as even getting caught in a summer shower is magical! Just feeling the sun on your face will do the trick of making your home more beautiful with a bouquet of fresh tulips. Or daffodils? That’s the beauty of spring, abundant beauty is everywhere around us – all we have to do is stop and smell the roses.
